The Birds are happy الحمدلله

The weather is extremely hot in Oman, if you go out you would most definately get baked

I started getting forwards about birds dying from the heat, therefore, people are advised to place a bucket or a glass filled with water outside their windows so the birds can drink.

Rasha and I did that in our balcony and other windows surrounding our room:

The birds seemed happy, and they even spent the whole day there. Some slept while others just stayed in the shade drinking water. It's a very nice feeling to help animals, I hope everyone does it

Let me tell you two stories that the prophet Mohammed (PBUH) told his companians:

1- A story about a thirsty man who found a well then went down and drank then came back up to find a thirsty dog gasping so he returned down, filled his shoe with water and brought it up to the dog. This man's sins were forgiven and he went to heaven.

2- A story about a woman who went to hell because she trapped a cat in her house with out giving it food until it died.

قال رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وسلّم
دخلت امرأة النار في هرَّةٍ ربطتها ، فلم تطعمها، ولم تدعها تأكل من خشاش الأرض

So be kind to animals and insh'Allah you'll be rewarded in the the feeling is incredible
EDIT: Rasha suggested I post this video of Mary Poppins singing 'Feed the birds', which is very moving...even my 8 year old neice told me she always cries in this part of the movie:

My ❀ Japanese ❀ Notebook

I love shopping (Kaimono かいもの) and now that I'm starting something new -learning Japanese- I have an excuse hehehe

I bought lots of things but here are just a few:

I bought these from different places. The notebook (no-to ノ-ト) and the Oxford Japanese Grammar book are both from Borders Seeb, the file I had a long time ago and I can't remember where I got it from, the Collins Dictionary is from the Family Bookshop in MQ, and the Chococat pen is from Sanrio in Masa Mall back when there was one...

Here are some of my notes...I love scribbling!

❄ Learning Japanese ❄

I had always wanted to learn Japanese ever since I was a little chihuahua hehhehhehe

I love Japan/Japanese because they have awesome :
  • Animes
  • Mangas
  • Video Games
  • Gadgets
  • Toys
  • Music
  • Food
  • Martial Arts
  • Traditional Clothes
  • Customs
  • Culture
  • Historical Background/Heritage
  • Landscape/Structure
I hope I can go there one day

When I was little my father told me he adopted me (or sometimes he said he just found me) from Japan. It's a very mean thing to say to a child I know hehehehhehe but it was funny. (I don't mean it's mean because I look Japanese OFCOURSE but because I was adopted which is not true....don't worry I am not racist

When I was in school in London, most Japanese people that passed by me in the street, greeted me, but my family or friends thought it was weird cause they never greeted them, apparently Japanese people only greet eachother hahhahahha.
Two people I met in London also thought I was half Japanese and half Italian but nobody ever thought I was Arabic hehehhehhe weird

Anyway since I look Japanese, I thought why not pretend I am hehehhehe just kidding. I decided finally, after years and years, to start learning Japanese and I have

I have a personal tutor but I also came across this very helpful site called Lang-8 that I'd like to share with you. It is a site where you can learn the language of your choice through native speakers of that language. Rasha also joined the site but she wants to learn Russian, which is my third favourite language (my first being Arabic and second being Japanese).

Hope everyone learns a new language so that the world feels more like one big family where everybody understands eachother

A blessed Friday & a new book

I would like to recommend a pocket guide called 'The Prophet Of Islam, Muhammed' for those who are travelling to the Mid-East or other muslim countries because it gives a brief idea of who the prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) is and why we (the muslims) try to follow in his foot steps.

I had read it and I think it was well represented. Everything was summerized well and very easy to understand. Ofcourse if you'd like to learn more about the prophet Mohammed (PBUH) then maybe the next time I come across a good book about him, I'll post it here.

There are a lot of bad things said about our beloved prophet (PBUH) these days that are completely false and you can only know the truth about him if you search. Do not depend on the media to form a summary for you about a person, and do not judge a person's nature through what others who support him do. Only because people say they follow what Allah, his prophet and islam say that doesn't mean that it is true. If a christian kills, then I would not judge his religion, even if he said it is permitted in christianity because I'm not ignorant. Instead I research and learn the truth by myself. We're in the 21st century nobody can make up excuses.

Why would Islam be the fastest growing religion in the world if it supports terrorism and why would an islamic state, like my country Oman, be considered one of the world's most peaceful countries if it supports such a religion.

Hope those who are not travelling to a muslim country also read this, only to gain knowledge. Hope you all have a blessed Friday inshAllah.

My quest for natural goodness

I'm on a quest to only buy or use anything either natural or eco-friendly. From skin products, to clothes to electronics & food. It's not that easy because it's hard to find products for all the uses of living. So anway, I bought a few things yesterday that are eco-friendly.

These are nail filers from a range of eco-friendly beauty products called EcoTools:

and these Handwash products from Method, which I THOUGHT, were eco-friendly

Well the smaller one is, it's packaging is made from 100% recycled plastic, but the green one isn't. Unfortunately I knew that after I came back from the supermarket. Anyway, eventhough I like recylcled products, I still like to use things that are natural but good for the skin. Another thing I realised when I came back is that the handwash has a fragrance, which is not natural. Oh well, what's done is done, I'll be more careful next time

A blessed Friday & a new book

I hope everyone had a very blessed Friday Insha' Allah. I bought a new book that I'd like to share, which is called 'أنبياء الله ' or 'Allah's Prophets' by Mohammed Mutwali Al-Sha'rawi. I don't know if there's an english translation, but if there isn't than I hope someone translates it.

I've been searching for a book that talks about all the prophets in order and I finally found one. It's very easy to understand, and ofcourse everything is backed with proof from the Holy Quran. Everything is explained well, so when you read about a new point, you wouldn't have any doubts about the previous point AlHamdulilah

I've only read about 3 prophets today, Adam, Idris & Noah (Peace be upon them). Eventhough I had learned these things in school, we were given them in different orders I think, and some prophets were just names to me, with no particular story, so it confused me. And also, I used to remember some of the stories but I couldn't remember which prophets they belonged to I fully recommend this book, because so far it's cleared my head.

I was hoping to write about what I learn from the Islamic books I buy, every Friday, but my sleeping habit is messed up, so I couldn't hehehhehhe. I usually like to wake up early, then read, then write about it, but these days I sleep really late (like in the morning) and wake up really late (like in the evening). This change in my sleeping routine is due to the extremely hot weather that has hit us here in Oman. The Air Conditioner is useless these days, sometimes I even forget it's on. BUT I will still try my best to fix my sleep, so it doesn't disrupt my life, my duties, and my prayers.

☞ Custom Icons for Mac Tutorial

I had posted a screencap of my desktop a long time ago with custom icons on my dock as well as my desktop and I'd like to explain how to go about doing that. This ofcourse is for mac users only.

First of all, you should download Candybar, which is a program that allows you to change your existing icons in an easy way, also it's the only way I know that does that hehhehehehe

Although this program has a trial period of only 15 days, there are ways of manipulating that, and I'll show you how. Everytime your expiry date is due, just do as follows:

First go to your Finder

Then go to your User, then Library

Then go to Preferences

And then find the file highlighted in the picture, and delete it

This tutorial was given by Silenced Scoper on his video on YouTube...SOOOO thank you SS

Now after you've sorted all that out, go ahead and download some icons. There are many sites, but my favourites are We Love Icons & Icon Archive

After you've gathered the icons you'd like to change, go ahead and open your Candybar

All you have to do now is drag and drop your icon file into the icon you'd like to change

Then reboot and THAT'S ALL FOLKS

Audrey Hepburn again

Since it's Audrey Hepburn's birthday, I thought I'd post a few photos

These were taken in 1951, before she had made a big name of herself:

And these were taken in 1956, after she had established her place in Hollywood:
